Brave 7-year-old Boy Swims An Hour To Rescue His Dad And Little Sister

In life and death situations, the instinct to save those we love can grant us near superhuman powers. On the eve of this past Memorial Day weekend, thanks to a small but mighty hero who rose to meet such a challenge, a father and little girl are alive to tell the tale.

Chase Poust is only 7. He, his dad Steven, and his 4-year-old sister, Abigail were out for a family boating excursion on Florida’s St. Johns River near Mandarin Point. Chase and Abigail were swimming at the stern of the anchored boat while Steven was on deck fishing.

It was an idyllic outing—until a strong current loosened Abigail’s grip and she let go of the boat. Instantly realizing his sister would be swept away, Chase let go of the boat as well to try and reach her.

Woman Meets A Stray Mama Cat And They Become The Absolute Cutest Pregnancy Buddies

The same morning that Maners made her “no more fostering for now” decision, she and her husband were driving home from getting breakfast when they spotted an injured cat in an empty parking lot on the side of the road. She immediately had her husband pull over to check and see if the cat was OK, and that’s when she realized that on top of being injured, the cat was also pregnant.

“I knew that she was in bad shape and also felt a sort of connection to her due to us both being very pregnant,” Maners said. “I managed to catch her by luring her up to me with our leftover food and wrapping her in my jacket, and we brought her to the vet.”

Dogs Are Helping Save Ornate Box Turtles From Extinction

a group of researchers from the Chicago Zoological Society and the University of Illinois are getting some canine assistance in tracking them down.

One known home is the nearly 4,000-acre Nachusa Grasslands in Lee County, Illinois – one of the 10 counties that still have turtle habitats – where these small turtles that have distinctive shells with yellow markings are part of a health survey according to AP News.

These Homegrown Mushroom Hives Could Save Ireland’s Bees

An Irish designer is hoping to save her island’s native bee species by creating special hives grown from mushrooms.

Placing on the world Top 20 for the James Dyson Design Award for Sustainability, the prototype hive, called Econooc, is being designed specifically by Niamh Damery for the Irish black bee, as well as to get more people involved in conservation.

30 Years After Retiring, This 89-year-old Math Teacher Hasn't Stopped Helping Students
