COFFEE WASTE SPEEDS UP FOREST RECOVERY ON DEGRADED LAND

From boosting local job opportunities to improving biodiversity and capturing carbon, restoring deforested land can hold a variety of benefits for both local communities and the environment. And in the tropics, these benefits could be boosted with the help of coffee waste — at least that’s what a recent study in Costa Rica points to.

BANKSY PAINTING HONORING UK HEALTH WORKERS RAISES $23 MILLION

A Banksy painting honoring healthcare workers was sold for $23,176,314 during an auction at Christie’s in London. According to the charity, the proceeds will benefit British public health charities to enhance the care and treatment facilities provided by the NHS.

The black and white painting illustrates a young boy sitting on the floor playing with a nurse superhero, as Spiderman and Batman toy figures rest in a basket right next to him.

COUPLE ADOPTS 7 SIBLINGS IN FOSTER CARE AFTER PARENTS DIE IN CAR CRASH

Pam Willis was scrolling through her Facebook feed in 2019 when she landed on a news story about seven siblings in need of a permanent home.

The children, who ranged in age from 1 to 12, had been in foster care for more than a year after losing both parents in a horrific rollover car crash.

Pam couldn’t stop staring at their faces.

“I can’t explain it — I just knew I was supposed to be their mom,” Pam, 50, told TODAY Parents.

THEY THOUGHT THIS KITTEN COULDN'T WALK BUT HE SURPRISED EVERYONE WHEN WOMAN TOOK A CHANCE ON HIM

A little black and white kitten found himself at a pound in Montreal, Canada amongst other rescued cats. He had trouble using his hind legs when he tried to walk, and had to use his front paws to push himself forward.

Louise found the little guy at the shelter and knew she had to rescue him, since the shelter didn't have the resources to keep him.
