Laura's Guide to Stockholm

As many of you already know, Sweden is very dear to Henné founder Laura's heart. Stockholm in particular is one of her favorite cities in the world, and after talking to her, it's no surprise why. Although we've entered the autumn season, summer is Laura's favorite time of year in Sweden, so some of the suggestions (outdoor activities in particular) are focused on the summer months.

Without further ado, here's Laura's Guide to Stockholm:

Eat/drink

Volt
Experience the Michelin standard

A fine dining restaurant with a modern take on Swedish cuisine. Closely connected with nature, Volt's ingredients and produce come from the forests, fields, and seas that surround Stockholm, along with expertly curated organic wine list. With a Michelin star, Volt is by no means cheap, but the prices are still toward the affordable end compared to most Michelin-rated eateries.


Oaxen Krog
Lunch with a view

If you're looking for a place to unwind, there's no better spot than on the terrace of Oaxen Krog. With its location near the water and amidst the historical and industrial memorabilia, this elegant restaurant (which also boasts 2 Michelin stars) has the perfect mix of nature and city.



La Colline
French brasserie meets modern art

This French brasserie has a lively ambiance ideal for a night out. They serve classic fare from the Mediterranean and also have an extensive wine list with a focus on natural wines. An exciting feature that sparks lively art discussions at the table is the interior wall that acts as an ever-changing canvas for their artist-in-residence.


Barbro
Expect the unexpected

Sushi under a bridge? Look no further. Barbro does everything right from a hip yet cozy atmosphere to friendly service to top-notch sushi rolls. This hidden gem is definitely worth searching for.


Hermans
Hearty vegetarian food

A vegetarian restaurant with gorgeous views of the city and the river. With reasonable prices, there's no reason not to try Herman's plant-based food and as the Hermans team says: "Give peas a chance."

There are numerous activities you can partake in such as boating, hiking, fishing, sea kayaking, biking, swimming and even ice yachting! Grabbing lunch at one of the gourmet restaurants on Fjäderholmarna is highly recommended.



Sunbathing by the water

When the summer sunshine spreads over Stockholm, Swedes don't take a moment of it for granted, and neither should you. There is a plentitude of bathing jetties, rocks, diving towers, and sandy beaches for all of your sunbathing needs. If you want to stay close to the city, Lilla Essingebadet is surrounded by water and anyone who fancies a dip while on the island can find a jetty with a bathing ladder to the boat clubs. If you just want to enjoy some simple sunbathing, Lilla Essingebadet also has a great grassy area where you can lay down a towel and bask in the beauty that is Swedish summer.

Shopping

T-Centralen

The main hub of Stockholm's subway, this area has many shopping centers, boutiques, and mainstream brands. This metro station connects with other modes of transport, making it easy to travel from one place to another. The walls are painted with stunning murals and artwork, making it an iconic photo scene.


Södermalm

This neighborhood is the place to go if you are looking for more indie boutiques, second-hand stores, and vintage shops. Art galleries, cafes, fresh dining, and beautiful views add to the chic character of Södermalm.
