5 Things You Need To Know About the Lip Serum

If you just got mesmerized by the Lip Serum photo above, you’re not alone. It’s beyond gorgeous, and what’s even more impressive is the liquid gold formulation inside the bottle.

Now that we’ve both pried our ogling eyes away from the Lip Serum, I want to share 5 quick tips/facts that will help you get the most use out of your Lip Serum…and the best results!

1. There's more to the 24K gold rollerball than meets the eye

Yes, that bedazzling 24K gold plated rollerball is a sight for sore eyes, but it’s more than just a pretty addition to the Lip Serum. Gold contains antibacterial and calming properties, which helps boost the serum’s efficacy during application and also makes the rollerball more sanitary. Gold also happens to be one of the few metals around that almost no one is allergic to, whereas metals such as nickel are commonly known to cause skin reactions.

2. Don’t put it on like a lip gloss

This will vary slightly from person to person, but usually 2-3 layers is ideal. I have a general 5-Minute Rule of Thumb for serum absorption. Essentially it means that after you apply the serum, if your lips are still soaked after 5 minutes, then you’ve put on too much.

3. Twice per day is perfect

While we do recommend that you use the Lip Serum twice per day (AM and PM), If you want to apply it frequently throughout the day, by all means do so (it’s your Lip Serum, after all!), but applying it several times a day won’t necessarily give you results faster.

4. It’s a serum, not a moisturizer

The easiest way to explain it is think of the Lip Serum as a face serum, but formulated for your lips. The Lip Serum is meant to target and reduce the appearance of fine lines. It is not a lip moisturizer, so after the serum fully absorbs, you should follow it with a lip balm or lip mask. Sometimes customers ask, “I put on the serum and I don’t feel it on my lips after a few minutes. Is this normal?” Absolutely! This means that you’re using the Lip Serum the correct way.

5. Say no to UV's

While the dark violet glass does offer a lot of protection from UV, this is still an oil-based serum, and constant direct sunlight or excessive heat will reduce the shelf life. Keep that gorgeous serum bottle away from windows and don’t leave it in a hot car.
