Valentine's Day Gifts for the 5 Love Languages

With love day around the corner, we thought it’d be a good time to combine gifting ideas together with the 5 love languages. A lot of you have probably already heard about the 5 love languages (based on the bestselling book by Gary Chapman). For those who haven’t, now’s the perfect time to find out, as we’ll be adding brief descriptions about each love language.

Read on for gift ideas that are perfect for Valentine’s Day, a different special occasion or just-because (our personal favorite).

Acts of Service

Breakfast in bed

For people with this love language, actions truly speak volumes. Acts of service reassures your loved one that they are deeply cherished and not being taken for granted. These are especially useful (and appreciated) as a way to provide comfort and lightness when your partner is going through tough times.

GIFT IDEAS:
❤ A white glove car cleaning/detailing
❤ Do the chores that you know your significant other dislikes.
❤ Cook their favorite meal or breakfast in bed (double win if breakfast is their favorite meal!).
❤ Order from your special person’s favorite restaurant and get it delivered to their workplace.
❤ Create a custom gift card for an act of service you know they like that they can redeem anytime.
❤ Hire someone to fix something around the house that your SO has been stressed about.

Physical Touch

The love language of physical touch is more than just overt public gestures or sexual intimacy. It’s about expressing love to your partner in a way that makes them feel loved, treasured and safe.

GIFT IDEAS:
❤ Give them a relaxing massage.
❤ If you’re not great at massaging, book a couple’s massage at home instead.
❤ Have a snuggle session while watching your favorite movie or show.
❤ Carve out time where you can be intimate in bed without any distractions.
❤ A large cozy blanket that both of you can share
❤ Upgrade your bed linens and get super soft (and aesthetically pleasing) ones.

Receiving Gifts

Bouquet of flowers

Receiving gifts is a love language that often gets misunderstood. Many assume that the higher the monetary value of the gift, the better it is. In reality, for most people it’s not about how pricey the gift is. What matters more is the symbolism and the perceived value of the gift in terms of thoughtfulness, so make sure the gift accurately reflects your partner’s passions and interests.

GIFT IDEAS:
❤ Desserts from your SO’s favorite boutique
❤ An item you know they’ve had their eye on for awhile
❤ Henné Lip Care Bundle (you know it’d be a hit!)
❤ A gorgeous bouquet of flowers
❤ An item that fits their hobby (for example: a telescope for someone who’s into astronomy)
❤ A gift basket full of their favorite foods and beverages

Quality Time

Cabin with fireplace

Those with this love language much prefer experiences over material items. True quality time consists of a good length of uninterrupted time where you do something that both of you love, or it could be engaging in meaningful conversation, whatever your partner wants and needs. Put cellphones and tablets aside, give your partner your undivided attention and focus on the joy of each other’s company.

GIFT IDEAS:
❤ A weekend getaway out of town or staycation somewhere romantic in your city
❤ If they love games, plan a fun game night with their favorites.
❤ Plan an activity your partner’s never done but you know they’d love.
❤ A picnic with a view
❤ Take them to their favorite restaurant.
❤ Go on a road trip.

Words of Affirmation
